The school supports a very broad array of research activity, much of it interdisciplinary, and much of it in conjunction with colleagues in UCD and elsewhere. Four major and five specialist groupings have been identified which subsume much, but not all of this research activity: Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science, Software Engineering and Systems Design, Data Mining and Visualization, Networks, Parallel and Distributed Systems.
